Robot vacuum and mop with multifunction station, up to 11,000 Pa suction, Edge Reach mopping system, 2.5-litre dust bag and LiDAR navigation. In my test it cleaned just under 46 square metres in one hour and nine minutes, reliably avoided curtains and chair legs and mopped edges visibly clean.

The Narwal Freo X10 Pro is a robot vacuum and mop with a multifunction station whose main promise is simple: less work for you. Hair, edges, curtains and chair legs are where it shows whether a robot really gets used regularly or ends up parked in its dock.
After several cleaning runs my impression is very positive. The Freo X10 Pro vacuums and mops reliably, navigates the apartment on its own and takes over many of the annoying preparations our previous model still needed.
The package arrives well protected and weighs about 16 kg (35 lb), so you can still carry it into the apartment or house on your own. Included are the manual, a quick start guide, the power cable, a tangle-free side brush and of course the robot with its docking station.
The side brush simply clips on. One side is flexible so that hair does not wrap around it as easily. Compared to our previous model, where hair regularly collected around the whole brush, that is a very welcome solution.
The robot itself makes a high-quality impression. The design is simple and timeless, and the build of both robot and station feels well thought out.
For orientation the robot combines several technologies. The LDS LiDAR scans the surroundings in real time and creates maps of the rooms. A ToF sensor improves spatial perception so that distances are judged more reliably and obstacles are recognised earlier.
Narwal also uses structured light for obstacle detection, which is meant to help with smaller objects. In practice, navigation works really well with larger and slightly taller everyday objects. Very flat things such as cables or a notebook lying flat should still be picked up before cleaning. The manual says the same.
When mopping, the Freo X10 Pro uses the Edge Reach system. The mops are designed to extend further at edges and into corners than classic round systems. The goal is to leave no unmopped strips right along the wall.
The robot recognises edges, extends the mop when needed and uses several strategies for edge areas. You can see that at skirting boards, furniture edges and table legs: the mop visibly moves closer to the spots that many robots otherwise leave out generously.
The station feels just as high-quality as the robot. Under the lid sit the clean water and dirty water tanks. Both tanks close securely and are easy to carry by the handle, which makes refilling clean water and emptying dirty water pleasant.
The station also holds a large 2.5-litre dust bag, for which Narwal specifies up to 120 days of maintenance-free operation. A replaceable cleaning filter is used as well: the insert in the station can be removed and the filter simply slots in.
The dust bag is mounted behind the front cover. The integrated closure is practical: it can be closed before the bag is pulled out, so the collected dust stays in the bag instead of falling out during the change. The magnetic front cover snaps back into place quickly.
Setup via the Narwal Freo app worked without any problems for us. After installing, the Freo X10 Pro is added in the app and mapping can start right away.
Our first map was ready in less than five minutes. One important point: a floor-length mirror can distort the mapping. The robot may interpret it as a passage into another room. After turning the mirror around, the room layout was created correctly.
A clean map matters if you want to clean individual rooms. The app offers a pleasing number of options for that:
If you like, the robot can return to the station roughly every 10 square metres or after every room to wash the mops and take on fresh water. I have now set mop washing to after every room. For our everyday life that is more than enough.
Schedules can also be set up in great detail. That way the cleaning runs while you are out and you come home to a freshly vacuumed and mopped apartment.
Before a run, the Freo X10 Pro performs a short self-test and creates a cleaning plan. For the first complete clean of just under 46 square metres (495 sq ft) it needed one hour and nine minutes at exactly 40 percent battery use.
Considering that the robot returns to the station in between, washes the mops and takes on fresh water, that is a very usable time. The rooms are covered evenly in lanes, not randomly criss-cross.
In mopping mode the robot fills fresh water into its tank and lifts the mops on the way to the target room. That makes sense so that liquid it has already picked up is not dragged through other areas and individual surfaces are not mopped several times unnecessarily.
With normal dirt the Freo X10 Pro uses enough water and leaves a clean result. At edges the mop extends far out and visibly picks up the borders well.
The ketchup stress test showed where the limit is: on the surface the robot cleans very well. In the grout lines, however, a little remains. With a really large amount of sauce I would therefore always wipe up roughly with a cloth first. Accidents like that are a job for hand cleaning rather than a robot vacuum.
On the positive side, the mops were clean again after a subsequent mop wash. You should still empty the dirty water tank regularly.
With a maximum of 11,000 Pa the Freo X10 Pro offers very high suction power for a robot vacuum. Our previous model was at around 3,500 Pa, so clearly below that.
There are four suction levels. For daily cleaning the quieter standard level is usually enough for us. The odd crumb may occasionally be left behind, but it gets picked up on the next run. For an everyday basic clean the result is convincing.
The biggest difference to our previous robot shows in everyday obstacles. We used to have to hang up the curtains so the robot would not get stuck. The Freo X10 Pro works its way around them cleanly and has not got caught in them so far.
That noticeably reduces the preparation effort. And that is exactly what makes you start the robot more often in the end.
It also copes well under the bed. Where a stick vacuum barely reaches, it runs along reliably. Cabinets and deeper furniture areas are handled properly as well, provided the clearance height is sufficient.
In the obstacle course the robot recognised and avoided various objects well. A clothes rack that was not on the map beforehand was detected, and the robot either drove around it or lifted itself over it in suitable places. On the way back it was not stopped by it either.
The way it handles chairs is particularly practical. Instead of putting them up before every clean, the Freo X10 Pro works its way through the chair legs step by step. That takes a little time, but saves the tedious preparation.
At table legs the robot pulls the mop nicely along the edges. This is one of the solutions that really make a difference in everyday life.
Narwal also provided an accessory box for roughly one year of use. If you plan to use the robot long term, you should budget for this set or at least a basic package right away.

There is no brand lock-in for the cleaning tablets. The only requirement is that the product is suitable for robot vacuums.
For us, the Narwal Freo X10 Pro is the best robot vacuum and mop to date. It delivers a very good result both vacuuming and mopping and can be started largely unsupervised in everyday life.
Of course it does not work entirely without preparation. Clothes, cables and very flat objects should still be picked up. Curtains, chairs and many other typical obstacles, however, no longer need to be moved out of the way in our home.
Station and app convince as well. The water tanks feel high-quality, mop washing works reliably and the many settings in the app remain understandable. It is also practical that everything syncs automatically when you log in with the same account on another device.
My only real suggestion for improvement concerns the initial equipment. A few cleaning tablets for the tank or a small basic set of accessories could have been included in the box. Apart from that, the device is well thought out from front to back and is simply fun to use.
